March 6th: Due to heavy winds during the last days, my bicycle has reappeared.
This morning, when I left the house, the outside temperature was -22° C. You know that it is a really cold day when even the Canadians wear gloves on the indoor track. At coffee break I talked to Fotini, who told me it's the month to be away. The funny thing is that every month somebody else tells me it's the month to be away.
@ the anonymous snowboarder in Vermont: I'd be more than happy to ship all the snow over to you. I'll contact Canada Post and ask them for an estimate on the postage fee. I see a huge potential for this procedure. One of you guys in California, could you send some mild sea breezes over here?
I hope you will attend the demonstration against global warming tonight in Waterloo, Bee!
ReplyDeleteGood that your bike has re-emerged from the glacier becausew omen on bikes in bikini are especially welcome to the protest.
BTW don't forget that snowboarding is a left-wing sport.
Hi Lubos,
ReplyDeleteyou'll be delighted to hear that Waterloo is among the top seven of the World's Most Intelligent Communities....
Besides this, I'm pretty sure the climate is not going to be impressed by my bikini, so I'll stay close by the fireplace.
Best,
B.
PS: Hmm, the word verification is 'snowfk', I begin to believe this is a conspiracy.
Only a glance at the pic, and not having read about the -22 thing, I thought your bike was at the seashore (looked like frothing sea-water). :D
ReplyDeleteThe snowf**k verification word is not conspiracy: it's an optical illusion because your brain may be getting frozen. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood to see that Cambridge MA didn't make it to the top seven.
I don't know what is wrong with the snowboarder fellow--I'm in VT and I can't see anything outside my window other than snow. If they want to risk death every other time they go driving I wish he or she wouldn't drag the rest of us into it.
ReplyDeleteQueen lyrics:
ReplyDeleteBicycle bicycle bicycle

just thought of that. lyrics might not be totally accurate.
Hi RaeAnn,
ReplyDeletethanks :-) I have to admit I don't particularly like that song... gee, I'm tired. The only thing that comes into my mind right now is that my husband likes to say: In der allerhoechsten Not, schmeckt die Wurst auch ohne Brot. Which means something like: In case of emergency, eat the sausage without bread.
Best,
B.
I think I will have to use that moniker on other blogs it has a nice ring to it "Anonymous Snowboarder"!
ReplyDeleteWe always need more snow Ryan(even if there seems to be enough right now). It blows away, it sublimates and gasp.. it gets *ained upon (as in the forecast for Sat.)
Lumo, snowboarders are an independent lot in general but dont forget some of the best snow is in red states out west!
Bee you will get used to the weather. I am not originally from Vermont but have adjusted well. When I first came here I would not go snowboarding unless it was +10F or warmer. Now I will go out if its over -5F at my home as long as the mountain is not too windy. And with a warm coat playing frisbee in the back yard with the dog in the morning at -15F isn't too bad.. its dry cold :) In a few winters you will be just like those here who go out in t-shirts when it reaches 32!
